The eighth annual Forum on Justice & Opportunity is devoted to advocacy, focusing on the root causes of racial inequity and poverty. There’s no one better to boldly name the real challenges we’re facing than our keynoter, Charles Blow. An op-ed columnist at The New York Times, CNN commentator, and current anchor for the Black News Channel, Mr. Blow’s work speaks to the larger political, legislative and social issues fueling inequity and injustice in today’s society.
Mr. Blow is the author of The Devil You Know: A Black Power Manifesto, and the critically acclaimed New York Times best-selling memoir, Fire Shut Up in My Bones. The book won a Lambda Literary Award, the Sperber Prize, and made its way onto multiple prominent lists of best books published in 2014. Click here to read some of Mr. Blow’s published work.
If you care about the critical issues facing your community, you don’t want to miss Charles Blow. And it gets even better. Because award-winning journalist Cherri Gregg joins us as moderator for this opening session, engaging Charles Blow in a dynamic conversation and, at the close, inviting you to ask Mr. Blow the question that matters to you. An award-winning journalist, Ms. Gregg is a news anchor at WHYY. She is a past President of the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists and was listed as one of the city’s Most Influential Black Women by the Philadelphia NAACP. We’re excited to bring together two clear-eyed leaders who can cast a vision for a truly equitable community, and we hope you’ll join us.
