We are pleased to announce the second dinner and discussion of this wonderful series! The Marhaba dinner series is co-hosted by St. Mary’s Hamilton Village and Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture with support from the Middle East Center at Penn.

Photos from the first Marhaba event can be viewed here.
In December, we enjoyed poetry readings by Ahmad Almallah and Huda Fakhreddine and dinner made by Osama Herkal, a recently resettled Syrian chef.

On Tuesday, Jan 29th from 7-8:30 PM, you can practice speaking Arabic, learn how to dance dabkeh with Ibrahim Miari, and eat dinner made by Amina Alaiko, a recently resettled Syrian chef.

This event is free with limited seating, and a suggested donation of $10 (cash) per person. Your donation goes to St. Mary’s and Al-Bustan’s outreach ministry and educational programs.

Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture provides programs about the Arabic language, arts, and culture to youth, families, educators and the general public. Through structured exposure to the language, arts, architecture, music, dance, and natural environment of the Arab world, “Al-Bustan”, Arabic for “The Garden”, strives to promote cross-cultural understanding and respect among people of all ethnic, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds.
The Middle East Center’s (MEC) mission is to raise awareness about the unique circumstances of the Middle East and North Africa through implementing K-14 educational outreach programming, special events and academic lectures relating to the region.
