Our Sunday School and Nursery for children NB-5 years old is taking a summer break. However, if you look in the back of our sanctuary on June 16th, 23rd, and 30th you’ll find a new addition: a Soft Space, with a volunteer from our Sunday School attending.
This Soft Space is an experiment for the rest the Sundays in June. You will notice a colorful kids’ rug on the floor in the rear (southeast) corner of our sanctuary, and bins and bags of quiet toys and books to provide a place where children can spread out during mass. Children are always welcome in worship with their parents and the rest of our parish family, but sometimes they need to get their wiggles out and busy their hands. For louder, more energetic play, our playground, cloister, and parish hall are good spaces to run and climb.
Parents, please accompany your children in and to the Soft Space, and help ensure toys and books are left in the bin provided. Everyone else, please help us keep this space clean and welcoming by not walking on the rug before mass or during coffee hour, and by extending patience and grace as we strive to be the inclusive, inviting, diverse community we proclaim ourselves to be- no matter one’s age!
